The Europeana Libraries project is working to make 5 million digital objects from 19 leading European research libraries freely accessible on The European Library and Europeana websites.

Spanish civil war photographs, Ottoman manuscripts, historic medical films and thousands of theses, journals and academic articles are among the digital resources that Europeana Libraries is working with. When the Project finishes at the end of 2012, it will have created:

  • A valuable resource for scholars, with full-text search capabilities for written works
  • A robust network of national, university and research libraries
  • An efficient aggregation model that can be used by research libraries across Europe

New Project Officer for LIBER and Europeana Libraries

Susan Reilly is the newest member of staff at LIBER, and is taking on the role of Project Officer in the context of 3 projects, including Europeana Libraries.

Her duties mainly relate to communication and dissemination activities.

Susan holds an MSc in Information Management from the University of Sheffield, and has several years experience working across a range of libraries. She has managed the Library service at the Irish Management Institute in Dublin.

Her interests range from digitisation, in particular how it can be exploited to support research and education, social media, library innovation and, most recently, information literacy.
