WP1

Leader: MDR Partners

  • Overseeing the management of the Europeana Libraries project.
  • Ensuring all goals are completed on time and within budget.
  • Making sure all work respects copyright and other agreements.

WP2

Leader: University College London

  • Studying the world of libraries and interviewing experts from all library domains.
  • Recommending the best and most sustainable way to aggregate library content and add it to Europeana.
  • Creating a new business model for The European Library.

WP3

Leader: The European Library

  • Aggregating digital content from all Europeana Libraries content partners.
  • Ensuring this content is added to Europeana.
  • Organising workshops to help partners with the process.
  • Establishing and carrying out an ingestion plan.

WP4

Leader: Instituto Superior Tecnico

  • Upgrading The European Library's aggregation technology to allow full-text search capabilities.
  • Creating a scalable system to deal with bigger quantities of data in future.

WP5

Leader: The European Library

  • Examining how existing library metadata complies with the new Europeana Data Model (EDM).
  • Recommending ways to comply with the EDM.

WP6

Leader: The Europeana Foundation

  • Promoting the Europeana Libraries project at a national and institutional level.
  • Publishing reports outlining metadata standards for research libraries to adopt.
  • Increasing use of Europeana and The European Library by pushing the use of digitised content in academic circles and among the wider public.
